Step Ahead Challenge Staff Training

This whole-staff training demonstrates how taking learning out of the text book is an effective and necessary part of today’s education. The challenge utilises experiential learning as a professional development tool for improving teaching and learning.

Both teaching and support staff are divided into equal teams allowing for different talents and areas of expertise. Each team receives a remit for the challenge based on a topic related to UAE life and culture. The remit sets out a number of compulsory and optional tasks the team must complete. The team can organize themselves in any way they wish to complete the tasks, however a number of visits are made to each group and points are awarded for teamwork and leadership.

Who Would Benefit from this course?

This is an activity for the whole staff.

Participants will:

• Develop teamwork across a whole staff and improve cohesiveness and understanding for the talents of others
• Experience how enjoyable learning can be outside a textbook and understand how this can be used to improve teaching and learning
• Increase knowledge and understanding of many aspects of UAE life and culture… woven into the school curriculum
• Develop their ability to plan quality lessons with a range of assessment opportunities

Course Duration

2 full, consecutive days.

Note: we also offer a half day workshop on how to run the Step Ahead Challenge with your students as a tool to develop independent learning and problem solving skills.
