Effective Use of Groups
Using groups to help engage and involve students in their learning is an essential part of active learning. Unless specifically planned, it can also present opportunities for students to be off task and allow one or two people to do the work while the others are there in body only. This workshop will demonstrate how to gain the most from group work while eliminating the possible negative effects.
Who would benefit
Teachers of Grades K – 12, Senior Staff, Heads of Faculty, School or Department, Principals, Directors
Participants will:
- Understand why and how group work can improve classroom dynamics and enhance student learning at all levels in a school
- Explore the concept of group dynamics and roles to ensure all members are equally involved
- Understand the link between the success of group work and the clarity of the group task
- Plan and deliver a small group task utilizing learning from the workshop
