Positive Behaviour Management
Positive Behaviour Management is an interactive workshop designed to apprise teachers of strategies to win over even the most recalcitrant student and create a classroom climate conducive for all learners.
Who would benefit
Teachers of Grades K – 12, Senior Staff, Heads of Faculty, School or Department, Principals, Counsellors
Programme content
Depending on length, participants could:
- Examine why the techniques of yesteryear are no longer acceptable, and in some cases no longer legal, when dealing with today’s students
- Learn how to diffuse difficult situations and ensure a positive outcome for everyone
- Understand the link between excellent teaching and positive student engagement
- Understand why devolving responsibility for dealing with challenging students should only be used when all other strategies have been used!
Course duration
Half or full day
Note: This course can be extended to include sessions for:
- Senior Staff and Principals on forensic approaches when dealing with serious breaches of school rules, including managing parents
- Students on strategies for improving their approach to dealing with difficult or stressful situations in the classroom and making a lasting change
- Parents on how to work in partnership with the school to ensure a positive outcome when their child exhibits challenging behaviour
