Schools need people to work together efficiently and effectively to realise continuous improvement. Teams enable smoother movement towards targets, prolong forward momentum, and can help the organization to overcome obstacles. The benefits to be gained from teamwork synergies are essential for effective management. This course provides opportunities for blended learning with in-school projects, personal and group mentoring, on-line learning links and face-to-face sessions.

This course is part of a suite of ‘Leadership’ courses; it may be taken as a stand-alone course or be combined with one or more from the suite to obtain either a Bronze, Silver or Gold level Leadership Award.

Who would benefit

Heads of Department/Faculty, Curriculum Coordinators, Heads of Year, Principals, Directors

Participants will:

  • Explore the concept of team roles and investigate the dynamics of high performing teams
  • Learn about distributed and participative leadership, legitimate methods of persuasion, vision building and handling conflict
  • Work with the course mentor to develop a relevant in-school project designed to improve an identified area related to their role
  • Understand the values and principles that should underpin how they work with others, including professional communication and management of change
  • Develop the skills necessary for inspiring others

Course Duration

3 training days spread across 2 – 3 months
