The Focal Point Leadership Program is designed for high school students to develop their leadership and communication skills and then be able to evidence this in a job or college application. It is not always true that only grades are important – both employers and college application committees look for a well-rounded candidate with diverse experience. The more involvement you have in these and similar programmes, the more they will benefit you, building self-confidence and experience.
The key objectives of the program are to:
- Train you in the areas of communication, decision making and time management.
- Enable you to be a self-confident and independent thinker.
- Help you recognize, develop and then evidence your strengths.
- Empower you to commit to making a meaningful impact both locally and globally.
- Develop social awareness and a global perspective.
- Ensure that every student is familiar with applied skills: creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, adaptability, teamwork
Model United Nations (MUN) mentoring programme: The MUN club creates an authentic simulation of the United Nations system. Students who take part learn about the workings of world diplomacy, develop a global perspective of international issues and acquire the skills of debate: compromise, conflict resolution and negotiation.
21st Century Skills: Developed in the US, the P21 programme is designed to help students to attain skills for success in the new global economy. Focal Point offers module based courses to help you develop skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, innovation and communication as per the 21st Century Framework.
Voluntary Activities: Focal Point has partnered with different organizations to arrange opportunities for volunteering work for students. If you are interested in volunteering you can register in advance for upcoming activities.
